Trans-American Trail
Has anyone ever heard of this trail? There is a website and from looking at it, it seems more for dual sport motorcycles but a friend said he had heard of Jeeps riding on it. From what I understand, it is a bunch of old logging roads and county roads that are gravel/dirt. It is NOT some monster by any means but it looks cool to tkae the family out and just ride. Only problem is the website sells maps for like $290.00 and $50.00 or so for the local ones. I dont plan on buying one but I was curious if anyone on here had heard anything about it. I am in West Tennessee and I think it goes east and west like I-40.

My Friends response:
You can buy each state individual and they are priced accordingly depending on how much info is in it. That sounds about right for the entire TAT for every single state, but if you'll only be doing say TN, MS, & AR, it will be a lot cheaper to only buy those states.
I can tell you the maps are well worth it. You don't get just one little map with some highlighted route. You get several very detailed maps with miles marked, gas stops, hotels, etc. TN alone is 11 individual maps plus the roll chart pages.
If there are several guys, just go in on it together.
Here's TN:

Here's the roll chart before you cut it up and put it in a roll chart holder
I don't know how to copy & paste the pictures he sent me
