Default Uwharrie Last weekend-with pics!

The 4X4 club I belong to had there annual "Spring Fling" this past weekend at Uwharrie national forest in North Carolina. We had 36 rigs on the trail and had a great time! We went on a night run on Friday and then headed out at 9am Saturday for a full day of wheeling. We ended up with 2 broken axles and 1 broken driveshaft by the end of the day and I have a small dimple in my rear bumper and a leaking rear diff cover. I guess I'll have to buy those ARB covers sooner than I planned. Darn! We had some 4X4 games and an RTI ramp Saturday night and then a big cookout. After all that the club had a drawing for participants and gave away some decent prizes provided by 4Wheel parts who is our club sponsor. The prizes include several $20 gift cards to 4Wheel Parts, a ProComp recovery strap, a HiLift jack, an offroad jack base, a handle isolator (which I won) and a Smittybilt XRC8 winch with synthetic line!
We all had a great time! Below is a link to the pics my passenger took. No real good action shots because he was to busy talking every time we got to the good spots! (I think he was a little skeered) He's 17 and it was his first time offroad!
So anyway I hope you enjoy them!

I took some friends to the zoo last weekend and on the way back noticed a line of jeeps and a sign for Uwharrie. Being new to the area I was aware of Uwharrie but did not know how close it was to Huntersville/Charlotte. Now I have to go and check it out. Are any of the trails OK for us whimps that do not want to tear up their jeeps yet want to have some off road fun....

As stated below your post the trails are accessible to most rigs. If you notice in my pics there was a samarai with us and he was the one leading our trail ride. He had no problems, he just got banged around a little more than the rest of us! I have a stock rubicon and had no problems other than a little under carriage banging on some of the rocks, save for a small dimple in my rear bumper and a slightly leaking rear diff cover which I fixed in about ten minutes good as new! The trails are fun and pretty easy. I have been there many times with an ATV, but this was my first time with a 4X4 and it's totally different. We had a large group split in two. One group took the easy/moderate trails and the other took the more difficult trails. They really took the same trails we did except they went up to Kodak Rock and Daniel which are the two most difficult trails in Uwharrie although my group went to Kodak to watch the carnage we took the bypass.
Uwharrie is a beautiful place and anyone who gets the chance to visit should!
You can fish in Badin Lake and the Uwharrie River as well as camp anywhere in the forest. And then there's the 20 miles of trails, the best part! If you want to go sometime on a weekend let me know! if I can make it I will (I live 3 hours away so I need a little notice.

Thanks! There was a Dodge Powerwagon meet up there at the same time as well as a group of old military trucks, my cameraman didn't get any pics of those for some reason. Next month they are having the "Full size Jeep invasion" although anybody is welcome to come wheel with them! I think I'm gonna have to take my baby Jeep (that's what they call wranglers and cj's) up there and show them what for! It should be fun.
