Default Buying new wheels

Can someone help me here? Looking at new wheels they 17X8.5 5X127 4.36 -10mm. Is that a good backspace for my 2017 JKU with the 2.5 MetalCloak game changer lift? I will be running 35” tires. Thanks

Good question..Have you checked the wheel mfg.. many do list Fitment for multiple vehicles. 4.36 the backspacing? This should push the wheel and tire out farther.. I run 4.75 back space with -6mm offset on 17x9; with 35 x 12.50s with a 2.5" AEV lift - no problems.. I don't recall the backspace on the OEM but I believe it to be around 5 or greater and the OEM wheel is 7 or 7.5 wide. Wheel offset is the distance between the mounting surface and the center of the wheel, whereas the wheel backspacing is the remaining distance from the mounting surface to the back of the wheel, so to calculate the backspacing you just add the rim offset and half the wheel width. Not a definitive answer but hope it helps you on your decision.

Those wheels will be fine. 4.5" is the target but I've seen folks squeak by with 5.2" even. The further out the better. Most of us will pick a 9" wide wheel.

These don’t come in a 9 wide with correct back space

Generally 4-4.75 backspacing is good for 35s. I have 16x8s with 4.5 backspace with 35s on a 2.5 inch metalcloak lift and its perfect. The reason you dont want to go above 4.75 is that steering issues can present with clearance, and you dont want to go too far from 4, as it starts to get real hard on the hubs/balljoints
