I ordered the RR and laid it out. Measuring the stock carrier and RR carrier is only pulls the wheel back by 5/8"
Not nearly what i hoped. Best i can tell 1" would just barely make the rubber bumpers touch the wheel.

I do not see how the RR could effectively be modified to gain another 1/2 to 1"

Jay,
Sounds like you are going in the opposite direction that I am trying to achieve. I decreased my backspacing and am trying to bring the spare back closer to the vehicle.

Daystar KJ09144BK Tailgate Bump Stops for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK

. my wheels are 4.5 backspace .. & on Wed. will be loading up 35/11.50 17s on the factory carrier. (will see how they fit and act accordingly). I might try a Spare tire delete plate ("Tramp Stamp") to space out the OE tire carrier.
Harbor Fre has an extension for 2" receivers that puts the trailer ball out.. you will need to extend the safety chains on your trailer; check it out..

I trimmed down the factory nubs to better fit my tire. The MorRyde system does fit a little differently and with the backspace on my wheel, I ended up using a couple hockey pucks and set them behind the rubber to firm up the mount. I run two sets of wheels so when I move back to factory wheels, I have to remove a puck and bolt it all back up.

Unless I'm reading this wrong your tire is too close to the vehicle and you're trying to make space. correct? (trimming the nubs)
My wheel is too far out and I am trying to bring it back towards the vehicle.

Yeah, you're needing to physically bring the tire closer to the vehicle. My solution will help get the nub spacing correct after selecting tire position. After you've pulled your tire in, you might need to use a similar practice to adjust your nubbers.
