What size wheels and tires?
Driving a stock 2017 JK with no lift and it it's time for new tires. I think it's the perfect time to size the tires up a bit and get some new black wheels! I don't want to add a lift and I don't want the tires to stick out. How big can I go with no rubbing and any suggestions for tires that are going to be quiet? I'm on the road a ton and don't do much off road...

Most aftermarket wheels will offset the tires outward, which often takes it's toll on ball joints. 285/70-17 is the pretty much the max with stock bump-stops, stock offset wheels, etc. And, the steering stops will need a washer added to keep the tires from rubbing at full turn (left or right). I'm on my third set of goodyear AT adventure's in that size -- quiet on road, good off-road, and even has the mountain snowflake winter tire rating. Rubicon take-offs are 255/75-17 and would not require adjusting the steering stops with a washer.
Take a look at my build link in sig below for pics of the steering stops and more details.

I'll second what Mr.T said. As you go up in tire size, you start putting stress on the steering components. To not answer your question, I'm not sure what size you can safely "size up" to but just be aware that you may start wearing components down a bit quicker. A lot of people like KO3's/Nittos but enough people also say they are a bit noisy for me to recommend staying away if you want a quieter road tire. I've consistently found people like the Cooper AT's though so I'd probably recommend you go with those. I myself have some fat mudders on mine so anything is quieter than what I got haha

285's as mentioned on stock lift will rub on the sway bar under flex. You can sacrifice some turn radius as mentioned with washers or go with a levelling kit or go with a 265 or 275 tire and leave stock with adjustment on the steering stops a little with experimenting to see how much, if any, adjustment is needed. Try and get a C or D load range tire as they ride a lot nicer than E's.

I’d suggest the stock rubicon size, 255/75r17, basically a 32x10r17. Or 265/75r17 might clear, it’s been a while since I researched what tire sizes clear stock. The 285’s we had on one of our JK’s rubbed a bit, but I can’t remember if it was a 285/70 or 285/75.
OP, what’s your current size wheels and tires?
