Default 2012 manual transmission

I probably will sound real dumb but dose anyone know what the slits in the top and bottom of the bell mouth are for??

The opening in the bell housing are to allow clutch dust and heat out of the clutch assembly.... And to let water and mud in to ruin your throw out bearing

The bottom one will let oil drain if you have a rear main seal leak. Better that than letting it pool up inside the housing.
