2DR Security deck options
I love the idea of a rear deck in my 2DR. After several hours of poking through the $48 deck thread I realized there weren't any good options for the longitudinally challenged. If you're running a Soft top forget it! So I'm hoping to condense the options for 2DR's in one easy to find thread.....
My solution will follow as soon as I can get it typed up!

Alrighty then,
My option is a center frame to hold up the deck. The deck folds in two places, first to make it easier to load, and second to create clearance for the soft top to fold down. The frame ties down at the rear seat brackets and the center section is secure from access anywhere but through the tailgate.

The box is placed in through the back and then attached to the seat brackets

The inner sections are folded out and bolted down, here you can see the clearance the outer sections provide for the top

The rear deck is bolted on and the deck is complete

I'm planning on purchasing a rubber mat to cover the entire deck and will post pictures when I get that done
Hope to see a lot of clever ideas!

I didn't get particularly clever, I just purchased a "Tuffy Security Products Security Deck Enclosure" for my 2012 JK 2dr. Very nice. Lightweight, but secure. The locking of the tailgate effectively locks the unit. Allows you to easily secure contents under the trunk with the top off so long as your tailgate is locked.
Of course, you have to remove the rear seat, but I've had my rear seat our since 2 weeks after I got my Jeep in 2012. If you're serious about interior storage in a 2dr, you won't want a rear seat anyway.

Yes. It was pricey but I needed substantial, secure storage and needed it to look great in the brand new (at the time) Jeep.
I'm good with woodwork, but don't have the tools or skills to do custom metalwork.

Today I added this mat
Shop Blue Hawk 36-in x 60-in Black Recycled Rubber Rectangular Door Mat at Lowes.com
It took a lot of trimming, but I got it to fit pretty well

Then I tried dropping the top with the deck.....and would you believe it...it worked!

I just ordered the tuffy security deck enclosure. Go to the official tuffy website I compared prices to northridge and was able to get it after shipping costs for $5 cheaper. It was in stock and took about 5 business days to get it. Install was easy took about an hour. Only needed a second person to help install the top plate. This is a great security addition. Here is a picture from the back not great but as they don't have any it maybe helpful.
