I got the idea from another member, but there were many questions unanswered, so I decided to contribute.

First, I bought eight #10 24 x 1/2 black button head screws with matching nuts from Fastenal.



Second, drill out the nipple in the middle of the fake screws with a 7/64" drill bit.


Third, drill all the way through with a 3/16" drill bit. This will separate the rubber from the plastic.


Finally, use the new button head screws and nuts to reassemble.

 

Please forgive the ignorant question, but what issue is this mod designed to address?

 

Many of the fake screws have broke, do a search, there are many who have broken the bezel.

How did you get the shifter knob off? I tried, but I did not want to break it.

 

Get an open end wrench to fit the diameter of the shifter rod, slide it up to the bottom of the knob. Use a rubber mallet to hit upward on the wrench. The knob is just pushed onto the shift rod.

 

2nd gear and pull until your ready to shit yourself...

its tight!

 

How do you sucessfully reomve the plastic boot bezel from the console?
