I think I may be able to chime in on this, ( not trying to steal Sambo's thunder here )

I did this mod a while back, I can also back Sambo up by confirming that the Hella housings will indeed fit right in there without any kind of modification.

I ran the bulbs that the housings came with for about a week, they are better than stock but still had that yellowish halogen color temp, so I went with some GE Nighthawk Platinums and the diference was night and day. Im very happy with this set up right now and threw out the idea of putting HID bulbs in there later.

For those of you who don't really feel comfortable cutting off the stock H13 harness, you can purchase the H13 male plug from Rallylights and make your own adaptor similar to the ones that come with the IPF kit.

hope this helps.

They actually make a complete kit, with the resistors and all. I ran these for 2 years without a single problem. I am waiting for my new one to arrive, the connectors are on backorder.

What resistors do you need?

I have the cibie from ds, and I only ever run the stock wattage, so I'm thinking of buying the H13 male from rallylights and the H4 from Nokya and getting rid of my harness and relay. I'd still keep the cibie housing. Would this work ok? I like the idea of not cutting the factory H13 plugs.

Actually, it's not resistors, it's capacitors to smooth out the signal coming from the JK electrical system. But that's only needed if you're increasing the wattage of the system and using relays. Otherwise the relays will fry from cycling constantly.

Hey, Sambo, looks good, glad to see this writeup. I assume you're doing stock Wattage replacements, right?

Hey, I too did the DS... and installing this week.

I waited for plugs, and you can buy them on ebay if you search for H13 adapter... or H13 HID... you'll find someone selling H13 pigtail plugs, and then you can mod from there. I suppose if you do the same search for H4, you can just get a set from each and splice together.

I run the hella e-code kit from rallylights. They come with a complete relay harness. I am running 60/80W fatboy X4 bulbs and they burn retinas. I love pulling up by cars with HID and outshining them.

When the fatboys go out, I am gonna get some 90/100 watt bulbs. (I also have 80/85w OSRAM hyper bulbs and those are damned bright, but I don't like the clear look. I like the bluish tint).
