Default Another Solid Axle Differential Cover Success Story!

First full disclosure: I copied what everyone else did on this forum as it relates to the Solid Axle differential cover install. Nothing new or exciting but sure glad I reviewed other's writeups first. Here goes my story:

Rear diff cover removed and cleaned:

Cleaned her up real good and used the lubelocker gaskets and the hex bolts supplied and torqued to 15 ft lbs 1st go around and then maxed at 25 ft lbs as so many have suggested. Seems fine (no leaks after check ride so far).

Used a 5/8 clear hose for refilling the gear oil ($5 from Lowes) and ziptied to cross member so it wouldn't pull out.

Filled her up with just over 2qts for rear.

The rear was a piece of cake but the front was a bit more of a challenge as I chose not to remove the cross bar so somewhat limitied access to all bolts but got the stock one removed and cleaned up as well.

Used the same 5/8 clear house and filled the front with a little over 1 quart Mobile 1 Syn. Front differential bolts a bit more of a challenge to access but with patience and some new cuss words, got her done!

How's the lube locker seal? I am about to do mine, and bought the lubelocker seals for my new covers. Do they leak at all after some time, or are they good to go? Let us know!

Oh, got G2 diff covers off of amazon cheap! Already painted them black.

Now you have to determine if the oil level is above the bottom of the axle tube so it gets out to the rear axle bearings.
The new cover may require more oil to fill to the proper level than the stock cover.

Is it possible to over fill a diff with oil? My new cover comes with a drain plug and two fill holes.

Yes, it is possible. At the least it can puke out the vent tube.
At the worst it can foam and not lube the gears/bearings properly.
