Baseball Shift Knob
OK, so this was super simple, and the only reason I'm posting it is because the jeep sites are selling the same thing for like 50 bucks. In fact, thats where I got the idea, I saw one on quadratec and thought
sweet! Then I immediately thought how much does a baseball cost? Well, it turns out you can get a baseball for 3 dollars at target. I'll probably upgrade to the 15 dollar official game ball now that I know how easy/clean/awesome it is to do. I simply drilled a hole in a baseball using a 1/4" bit and slowly bored it out a little at a time until I could jam it over the end of the shaft. Then I just used a rubber mallet to pound it down until it seated. Funny thing is, it is much more solid and secure than the oem shift knob. The nature of the rubber and cork core of the baseball just worked out perfectly, stretching just enough to conform to the weird shaft shape.

Here's a couple daytime pics, they turned out a little better.

I've got a buddy with a stick I might suggest that to. My kids have a star wars (glossy?) & indiana jones (brown textured leather) we picked up from disney. I think they were more than 3 but less than 15 - the right ball for the right person would be pretty cool.

I guess it could over time, but right now it is super solid. It's definately not coming off without a hammer. BTW I'm not even a baseball fan I just thought it was really cool
