I have an air raid cai, i love it. However all of these posts in here are scareing me to death. I know the dealer will not replace an engine due to water damage. Is there a solution to this that does not involve installing a snorkal and pulling out the cai. I like the added pep, but the heat shield does nothing to keep water out. Let me see your creativity on this one pics please!!!

 

You may want to check into a Prefilter. Outerwears makes all kinds including customer sizes.

 

are these water resistant or repellant? that sounds like the trick i am looking for?

 

Some prefilters are water resistant and can help with splashing, but they wont help you in a situation that could lead to hydrolock. I talked to Kenny at River Raider a little bit about this and we both agreed most people getting hydrolocked are driving way too fast during a water crossing. He said its great for business, but most of it could be avoided if people would be more cautious. I have a CAI and I avoid deep water. I always check depths (make one of my buddies go first ) and if I do have to go through I keep it under 5mph with the wave in front of me. But if I ever decide to hang with the Jersey boys and wheel the barrens, Im definitely investing in a snorkel

Ive seen them anywhere from 15-30 bucks. Most manufacturers of CAI make them specifically for their filters. Its easiest to call or email them and they can give you a PN.

 

Either put the stock filter back on or put a snorkel on it.

 

i would if i did primarily off road driving, but i do 70 mi a day on the f/way for work. It makes a big diff. If i can put on the pre-filter before an off road adventure that is a lot less hassle.

 

just remember they are only water-resistent and will not prevent your intake from taking a big gulp.
