I forgot to re-install my drain plugs once this summer when driving up through the glaciers to get to my Dad's place. Had the floor heaters just cranked and my legs still felt drafty. Took me about 2.5 hours to clue in. Popped em in, and had to turn off the heaters and roll down the windows for a while.
The plugs (lack thereof) let a lot of heat in, but on the flip-side, they can let a lot of cold in too.
I plan to do the herculiner mod next spring. I plan to run carpet-less in the summer when I wheel and camp with the top down, and then chuck em back in for winter. And if the herculiner helps insulate a bit, that's all the better for our cold snaps of -38C (-26 F).
