Ok, I'm probably the only person that didn't know of this trick already, but I thought it was a pretty good idea... Found it in the instructions for my Rock Krawler lift, so I can't claim credit.

Looking for rear spring retainers but can't justify the $30-60 cost? Just get yourself a stainless steel hose clamp and viola!

Have you flexed it out to make sure it holds. It looks like the hose clamp would get all bent up.

 

Could this be used for the top of the springs too?

 

Forgive my ignorance, but what does this retainer do? Holds the spring in place when it flexes?
