I plan on running my coax the same way you did... how long did your coax need to be? 18'?

Ran it the same way and used exactly 18' of coax. Good write up, worked seemlessly.

Nice write-up. Thanks for taking the time.
Ran mine tonight and this was a great reference. The only diference is I used the Versa Mount tag assembly antennae mount. It was pretty easy and didn't cause any install problems. We still have to tune it, but the weather comes in real clear, so I think we're in the ball park.
I'd like to see if I can borrow a tuner if it is a one-time deal. Is tuning only required for initial set-up, or is it something you need to adjust periodically?

Default Thanks very much

I installed mine this weekend. The detail in this thread were extremely helpful. A couple of differences i chose were...

My antenna mount is actually a flag mount, from quadratec, aluminum, $36 bucks.

I was able to fish the antenna cable through the cloth casing on the rear door without too much trouble, thought it made for an even more finished look.

Although i have it wired directly to the battery right now, I'll be moving it to the M8 slot in the fuse box with a add-a-circuit tap. The reason being to fuse the power side of the cord, and have it ignition activated.

Thanks again!!!

I had that problem when I first installed mine with the factory tire carrier (before I went to a tire carrier bumper). I just went down to home depot and picked up 9 washers that fit the lug pins on the tire carrier. I'm pretty sure all 9 of them cost me under $2. The rubicon tire I had on my X still hit the rubber bumpers on the back door to stabilize it and the antenna didn't get any additional wear due to rubbing. Win, win solution.
