Default Cup holder mod

I'm not sure if anyone has done this before... so here goes...

My wife drinks those small 16oz water bottles. I usually drink the fat 1 liter sodas. I either have to cram my bottle in the small insert, or my wife's water bottle bounces around in the larger area once the insert is removed.

So I thought about it for a while... cut the insert in half. One side will be big for my drink, the other will have the smaller insert for her drink...

Cut the insert exactly in half... I used a very sharp razor blade and some blue tape to help keep me strait.

Now you have two halves that will fit on either side, leave one in, or both.

good idea

I thought for a moment someone did the cup holder mod I did....had to drill some holes in the front and the rear cup holders after I washed out my jeep and filled the rear ones with water, kinda dumb not having drain holes, I've filled them before but with muddy water they go along good with my door pocket mod

You drilled holes in your cupholders? How hard was it to get a towel or tshirt and soak it up? Just thinking that I personally wouldnt want the liquid in my cupholders draining to some unseen crevice of my Jeep.

There is no unseen crevice in mine. It drains onto the transmission tunnel, down to the floor. Since my floor isn't carpet, it simply goes away. His is probably similar. If you leave your top down enough, and don't have towels handy (or they're wet because they were in the Jeep), then you have to worry about it splashing you while you're driving.

well since I had the console out to get my jeep linex'd I knew what was under there and it just drains onto the floor...and besides when I go wheelin I tend to sometimes get a little water in the jeep, its nice to have the cupholders just drain themselves, also good for when it rains too

I was just thinking of the linkages and stuff I guess. Therye probably up to a little soakage. I was just thinking if I spilled my iced mocha/pink lemonade (or what have you) itd get pretty messy under there.

But really... when your JK is treated like a submarine what happens under the center console just isnt that big of a deal.

Just drilled my cup holders, a lot of pissed off mosquitos. Had to do it, after my wife's cell phone rusted out at the charger outlet. I will just tape them up in the winter when the rugs are put back in.
