Default Custom Passenger Side Seat Frame Rail Flashlight Mount

Our first attempt in locating a Maglite flashlight mounting system for our Wrangler came about when Granger gave us on of their Maglite 3D cell battery flashlight clips. But I needed to know what was the best way to mount these clips in or onto the jeep just to keep our 20 year old flashlight from rolling around under the seats.
I did some searching and found a site called Project JK which described how they though these Maglite clips should be mounted. The pans were simple enough except for one critical flaw.. The door had to be open in order to retrieve the flashlight.

Holding the Maglite in the general location as the image above shows, We concluded that the seat adjust handle would hinder ones ability to retrieve the Maglite from inside the vehicle, while the door was closed. We opted to swap sides to mount the Maglite but include a relocation mounting plate which holds the Maglite in a more accessible orientation.

Creating two plates, we drilled and fitted these plates in the correct location on the passenger side seat rail as there was already preexisting holes for our plate.. Then sending both plates to the shop, where as they sanded, cleaned, then powder coated black for us.

One week has passed and we’re still waiting on the completion of these plates. In the image above, you can see the last stage of these plates just for reference and the correct orientation of the flashlights. The odd thing here, Is that Project JK drilled holes in the seat frame rails to mount their clips.
In showcasing these images elsewhere, a fellow Jeeper asked if a small fire extinguisher could be placed on this plate instead of the Maglite flashlight. We just so happen to have a small Kidde extinguisher and placed this with the mounting hardware on the plate while it was temp mounted to the seat rail. The extinguisher fit but it might be slightly tighter than normal depending on the jeeps molded doors.

The powder coated mounting plated finally returned and we installed the Maglite clips then mounted the entire setup on the passenger seat frame rail. But the next morning while checking the tire pressure, I reached in while the door was closed, and the rear Maglite clip broke.

This lead me to search for something better and stronger to mount our flashlight in. Our search came to an end when another forum member suggested that we try the Rugged Ridge metal clips instead. We purchased 2 sets from an amazon site and they were delivers within a few days. Again mounting these net tougher grade clips on our just powder coated plates we set out to try this setup again.
Everything was ready to mount back on that passenger side seat rail.

Using a couple of brass bolts, washers and nut, we made sure to also use some of the blue loctite as this could be used frequently and become lose over time. Snapping the flashlight into the clips, we can say this project is done and wont be breaking anytime soon.

As for being able to close the door and retrieve the flashlight, The navigator tested this and she approves. So what ever happen to the second plate and clips?.. well we we're out and about and totally surprised a jeeper by giving him and his jeep this plate.
