Cutting the inner boot with a 1.25" B.L.
WRITE-UP ABOUT CUTTING THE INNER BOOT WITH a 1.25" B.L.
This is my first write-up. Sorry for my poor English, I hope that you will understand.
Last year, I installed the Rough Country 1" B.L.
I cut the inner boot exactly like in the WOL's write-up, and it worked well.
Look this write-up here http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write-...ation-write-up
But last week, I installed the new Rough Country 1.25 B.L.
I cut the inner boot the same way, but because it is 1/4" higher, the result is not 100%. The shifter is touching the plastic ring, and , i'm sure that it could pop up to neutral. (A few members here have already this problem with this B.L.)
There is only one solution: cutting the higher part of the inner boot (see the photo), and cutting a part of the plastic ring.
Cut the plastic ring, but leave a small part to be able to fix it. The plastic is hard, be carefull with the knife for your finger.

Look at the upper part. You have to cut the upper part of the rubber. You will have a rectangular hole. The rubber is thick: you will gain one more 1/8" See the photo.

Also, you have to cut this part of the plastic ring. It has to be exaclty like in the photo.

After, like a few members did before, I will glue a small piece of very thin leather at the bottom of the inner boot. (Not shown in the photos) Why? To avoid carbon monoxyde to come inside the Jeep.
N.B.
You don't have to put a piece of thin leather on the rectangular hole, because there is the botton of the shifter inside this part.
I hope that this write-up will help a few members

I sent you by PM the email of a guy who did a BL on a 2.8 JK in France. He will be able to answer your question (Of course, he speaks French)
important update
About the RC 1.25" B.L.
I thought it was okay, but with the cold (lower zero degree) the rubber gets hard and it pop-up to neutral
I will have to remove this 1.25" BL and buy a "normal" 1" BL
This quarter inch is really too much for a manual transmission
Therefore, if you have an automatic, PM me if you want to buy this 1.25" BL
I bought it new directly from Rough Country 3 weeks ago
