Default D-Rings Mounts on Stock Bumper

I'm wanting to mount some D-Rings onto a stock bumper but not having to permanatly removing the plastic bumper. Is this possible?
Any ideas and pics out there? My plans are to mount the D-Rings and chop the ends off the stock bumper (for now) atleast.
I found the D-ring shackle mounts on purejeep and considering that they are only 100, so I figure it would be an inexpensive mod.

Feedback would be very helpful!!

You can do it easily if you pull the plastic off and knock off the crush cans, but I don't see a way to still keep the plastic on and have it look decent.

Front or rear bumper? The rear bumper is 100% plastic. The front bumper uses very thin metal under the plastic and would likely be ripped to shreds if used as a tow point.

You would have to find a way to mount the rings to the frame itself.

Definitely, you would have to mount in the same spot the stock hooks are.

This is what I did to my stock Mopar bumper. Teraflex D ring mounts.

So it seems the D-rings are still mounted to the bumper...so I'm guessing it is strong enough for being a tow point?

It looks to me like the d-ring pads are mounted to the frame, and the bumper is sandwiched between the d-ring pad and the frame.
Bumper strength isn't a factor.
