Just completed mine as well... I used a 4x4 on the backside to support the top of the top more evenly between the hinges. Also added a cross bar at the frt that bolts into the hardtop for stability when I strapped it down. Pics to follow

I used a cheap 2-pack of bathroom rugs from Home Depot for the carpeting. Just used a boxcutter to cut them up to fit. One 2-pack was enough.

FYI, anyone doing this on a 2008 - 201x should only use TWO blocks otherwise you get that unneeded tilt. Im thinking 3 blocks stacked was for the older style hardtop with the building whipper hardware.

Very nice and great write up. Thanks for the info. I'm gonna try this. Looks a lot more cast effective than ordering one.

I am building mine on Wednesday. How do you keep the door from coming open when tilting the top back?

I just used some blue painters tape. Holds fine for the big tilt.

Be sure you only use "two blocks"
