Default Door Pin Replacement Write-Up

Couple months back I had to replace 4 door pins. 3 the threads broke off because of over tightening and the 4th just kept spinning in the hole.
First step is to take the hidge off the door I used a t-40 to take them out. Your paint will probably scratch on the hindge screw if you are not careful.

I put the screws back in the door while I was working on the hindge to keep the retaining plate in place and to not loose the screws.

Next you're gonna wanna wrap the hidge with a towel to protect the paint and hit the pin out with a hammer or rubber mallet I used the rubber mallet and it worked fine.

After a couple or one good strike the pin should just fall out.

To get the new pin in its best to use a push press or like I used a table top vise script and start pushing that sucker in. I hit the handle with the mallet on the last two but the first two I was able to push the vice script I guess it depends on the pin and hidge.

Also its best to use a larger socket to guide it in.

After you get the pin in all the way put the hindge back on the door and and tighten the screws so they can support the door when you put in back in the holes. Once you get it guided in the holes loosen the screws some and guide the door closed and tighten the screws all the way with the door closed. Put on the retaining bolt and you are done!
