I thought that was the ladies whistling as I drove by. Now I am disappointed!

Nah, no whistle.

I would be worried about standing water causing problems not dripping water.
DCX fixing doors after a few years because of a bad design

The water drips, it just takes forever and you get annoying water marks down your doors for weeks. This is by far the best mod you can do for the money. It will likely get fixed down the road, the first couple years of a new model year there are always items they fix. It sucks buying the first year since they ALWAYS improve it year after year. I could not wait, my XJ was falling apart and needed something new and love the JK. It is worth the problems of a first year vehichle in my opinion. Why wait? you only live once...life is not worth waiting for...

About 5/64 or 3/32 is all you need. You could always go bigger if you want. You'll find drain a steady stream for about 30 seconds at that size.

Any merit in drilling lower or is this low enough.
Take one mirror off and look at it from the inside. It only takes a minute to take it off (2 torx bolts on the inside of the door. There is a rubber gasket running around the perimeter. The hole would be useless if you drilled through the gasket as no water would reach the hole. I drill just above the gasket. The second side I didn't take off, I just drilled about the same place. See photo at the beginning of the thread.

Default Old fashioned measurement

Rub -

Unfortunately I can not see the image on my computer for some reason.

Could you try and give a 'plain language' description of where the hole clears the gasket?

Something like: centered left to right and about X/16" up from where the bottom of where the mirror meets the door.

Thanks for writing this idea up.

Its about 3/16" below the crotch where the mirror sticks out. Almost centered in that little smile formed by the bevel around the outermost ring and where the mirrir comes out.

Does that make sense? If not PM me with your email and I'll send you a jpeg.
