Default Freedom top canvas covers

I noticed Jeep has Freedom Top covers for sale, but they range from $80-120 bucks. I figured I could do better...

I bought some tan canvas from Wal-Mart ($5 a yard.) Some tan non-stick sew-on velcro and made a sort of "pillow case" for the tops. So they don't get scratched. I keep them in the rear tied to the floor with elastic straps. (Pics will be coming soon.)

Basically they are pillow cases for the tops...

Measured the Freedom Top, my wife calls them "lids." Sewed on the velcro strap with a one inch overlap on the inside so everything is secure. I will get pics of how they look inside, it was too late to take them off tonight.

The coolest thing is when I have the Freedom tops on my Jeep, the bags get rolled up and strapped to the rear roll cage like this...

Very easy mod. Once again my mother-in-law made them based off of my design. I will post more pics later on, showing how they fit inside and how I strap them down.

Looks like a good idea to me. And uber cheap, which is always a plus.

Not only did you get the Jeep but it sounds like your getting to bond with your mother in law...........next thing you'll know is that she will have a jeep also.....

Did you install that tie-down yourself? I don't have one.

And by the way... you could have posted this BEFORE I bought the MOPAR cover.: It looks good & I like the rugged look of the canvas, even rolled up on the bar.

It's weird, but my Jeep had them stock. 4 total, one even had to be turned to the side so the subwoofer could fit... Perhaps part of the "Black Appearence package?" I dunno...

But I had them already in there...

And I noticed my tailgate has a strap to keep it from opening too far too...

I've noticed a few Jeeps here don't have that either.

That sucks. Mine's a 2008 X also (no black appearance package).
