Gearing
Worked on installing Yukon gears today.
Yukon says ring gear bolts are 55 ft lbs for both the D30 and D44, this is lower than I have read elsewhere.
On the D30, I got up to about 60 ft lbs on the bolts included on my Yukon overhall kit and had to stop because if flet like they would strip. These are fine threaded bolts and are 5/16 or 3/8.
Can anyone help me out?
What is correct for the D30
What should I do on the D44? 55 seems low in the rear.

In other words... do you have tow package on your X ?

cheers
if you have a tow package and the 3.43, your carrier should be large enough to upgrade to 5.13 without changing it.
Nope. 4.11 only in Rubicon and if you have a Dana 30 up front, you do not have a Rubicon so you have a 3.21 if you don't have a tow package and 3.43 if you got the package. The carrier of the 3.21 gearing are too small to put 5.13 in it so you will have to change it, you may also need a overhaul kit..

...So you have a non-Rubicon with dana 30 up front and 4.1 ratio stock from the dealer ?

07 non-rubi Auto JK's came with 4.10 gears with/without tow package. They did not switch them to 3.73 until 08. And even some of the earlier 08's had 4.10 gears in them.
I am assuming your carrier will be fine, the only ones I think you have to get a new carrier for are the 3.21's like I have and those only come in manual transmission Jeeps.
