Default hardtop panels storage for 2dr (pics)

I am not good at writing and I have not done many things to my JK, except some of the ones coming from this forum's wisdom , but I wanted to add a simple thing I made using some ... creativity.

Been banging my head around for a while thinking in options to store the front freedom top panels while I go around in my 2dr. I've tried the blanket with some bungee straps, not really practical. The though of buying an expensive plastic or "vinyl" bag horrified me, and there's nobody I know that I could ask for sowing one ...

Finally, I decided that the Lange Originals' system was kind of the simplest one to buy and use.

And then I happened to see some days ago the IT guy in our office getting ready to throw away some of the foam packing material from a Dell laptop. I offered to take that 'off his hands and throw it myself' and I took it home, wondering ....

The rest of the pics are pretty self-explanatory. First panel in, foam block to "separe" (after I would cut them in half to make them "thinner"):

Second panel in, with a foam block as "spacer" for rattling noises and such:

A good set of bungee cords to tie everything up ... the two blue ones attach to the seat, the green/black keeps one panel tight against the other. Tight like this also leaves the rubber seals untouched (I am always afraid of messin' them up), unlike Lange's product.

This is how it looks from inside:

And this is how it looks when not in use.

I later used a small strap to keep all the foam blocks together. And while they do "compress" while holding the panels, they do recover their shape while "at rest"
I went around for 25-30miles of city bumps and some light trails, and this method seems to be holding well.

Overall, a very simple thing for which I am very satisfied. Solved the storage issue at zero cost, so my best advice is ... look around ... even apparent "junk" can serve a purpose!

Thanks for your time reading this, and thanks jk-forum for this space!

I'm glad you like your system. I can't say enough positive words about the Mopar rack that mounts to the spare tire. I LOVE it! The panels slip in easy, it's well made and keeps the back open for other things.
