Has anyone put together a kit similar to the Hi Lift Off-road kit?

Looks like it would be simple enough.

I am looking to get this kit for winching my jeep but it seems rediculously over-priced.

Instead of those black brackets, why couldnt you use shackles and then get chain cut to length similar in size?

You could, it's been done for years without the kit. I have the kit and it just makes it a little easier to set up as a winch. The other bracket that bolts to the beam of the jack is a tensioner so you don't have to take the tension off the winch line to re rig. I bought my kit for about 50 bucks if I remember...

You could try this... a real PITA to setup, but it's a cheap solution...
