I really like this idea. Is the windshield strong enough for this use?

Put them in, and you will see that this is the perfect position, and the velcro one's aren't far enough forward. At least not for the rear.
If you're talking about the windshield ones, I have no idea.

I was referring to the windshield ones that HogHoden described. It seems like they are pretty far forward. Wasn't sure how natural it was to reach up into that corner.

They actually work really well for me. Its a pretty natural motion if I use my right hand to grab as I get in the driver's side. I just need a little help and pulling slightly forward (toward the windshield) get's me right in the seat.

A great option for my first modification! Photos and directions on this site were right on, even down to the brass grommets from Ace Hardware. Was able to do it all in about 45 minutes. One thing I'd add that I didnt see in the string is it might be necessary to trim the ends of the handles a few inches before adding the grommets as they are a bit long. You can do this with a utility knife and then burning the cut edges a bit with a lighter to ensure they don't unravel.

Thanks for the great option, they look great, and I've already gotten some compliments.
