Here's a noob question: once you put the RTV on the pan, should you let it cure/dry at all before replacing the pan on the transmission?

And another: should you wait at all after reinstalling the pan before refilling with ATF+4?

Wish This write up was done b-4 I tackled mine I did not put locktite or anything on bolt #5 things seems fine.Maybe I got lucky, Everything else was a breeze, cept for the bolts you need a universile swivel for.

Did it this weekend holy sludge all across the middle of the pan, all fresh and clean now thanks again for the write-up

I'm doing mine this weekend. I stopped by my local dealership and asked the parts guy to show me a bottle of mopar lock & seal. Not only was it $6, but right on the package it said "medium thread locker" and I said "can I just use my loctite blue?" And he said "that'd work just fine."

Thanks for the write up WOL. And thought Id add... this really is something anybody can do.. I changed mine in an abondened gas station on the side of the highway 150 miles from home.... wasnt fun, but it did the job and no leaks.. and I also didnt use any locktite on bolt #5. (didnt know about it)

Nice write up WOL! Just one quick question. What mile intervals are you guys changing the fluid under the normal driving? (guess I could look it up in the manual.) Just wondering.....

technically, you shouldn't have to service your tranny for a long time - something like over 100k but, most people who wheel their jeep like to do a service once every 30k
