Jeep will not start, need help.
Tried to start the 2007 JKU, automatic yesterday morning and got the death "click" that so many people have had before.
Power turns on, dash board works, interior lights work, head lights work. At one point when I was trying to start it the clock reset itself, then the radio stopped working.
Tried jumping starting it first, nothing.
Next, read about six threads from other members about this exact topic.
Tried bumping the shifter forward, then starting it, nothing.
Tried shifting back and forth from park to neutral, then starting it, nothing.
Tried starting in neutral, nothing.
Cleaned the battery terminals, applied generous amounts of battery grease, tried starting, nothing.
Loosened, then retightened the four grounding posts I could find on the inside of the engine bay, tried starting, nothing.
Went to advance and got some 4 gauge ground wires, ran one from the negative battery terminal to the top black bracket of the alternator and ran a second from the negative battery terminal to one of the grounding terminals on the inside of the engine bay, tried starting, nothing.
I'm running out of ideas, anyone else have some good ones for me to try?
**Interesting update. Wife said while driving sometime last week the Jeep seemed to turn off then turn right back on while driving. Dash lights lit up all of a sudden and vehicle turn off, then turned back on and continued to drive within a matter of seconds.**
Thanks.

That really sounds like a bad connection somewhere. I think, if it were me, I would check my connections under the fuse box. Just a simple unplugging and re plugging might be enough to sort things out. Maybe a double check on the fuses to make sure they are all seated properly as well.
Another thing to check is the battery. Just because you have lights does not mean it is good. These vehichles like a certain amount of power, and a failing battery can really cause lots of problems.
Hopefully it is something simple and not a bad PCM.
Just a few things you can check, and rule out.

Had this problem with my jeep. The battery terminal would sometimes get a good connection and start then I would kill the engine and start it back up and everything you said happened happened to me. I took it off, cleaned, and made it smaller and it worked. You could just buy a new one cuz they're cheap or buy a spacer that slides over it and helps with a better connection (they sell at auto zone) I would start they're because I swore I was getting a solid connection because I had it sucked down as tight as it could and it appeared snug but wasn't.

Ah an 07 you say.....have one ...been there done that...bought the bumper sticker.
Ok sounds like you can save a lot of time and money but you will probably need to get it towed to a dealer. Sorry but there's a reason because I think you may be lucky enough to have 2 old problems at the same time. I could be wrong but the wife is describing the old stall/dashlight Christmas tree/start all by itself computer problem that is just showing up now or is the reason it was for sale used. Computer flash was the fix for free while under warrantee.
Next is the no-start with just a click sound after you tried all the other possibilities. Sorry again but 07's had a WCM module on the steering column that reads the anti-theft transponder chip inside the key whether fob or regular key type. Most of the time the module can be reset by pulling the IOD fuse or disconnecting the battery ground for about 10 seconds to reset it. Sounds like you've already eliminated that quick fix. The early WCM's need to be replaced and keys reprogrammed.
Sad to say....Joe's garage down the road and your best buddy can't do either of these repairs without a dealer StarScan computer link.
Hope to God I'm wrong but hey...I'ts only money.
Good luck but make sure you call places ahead of time to make sure they have heard of these 2 issues. We all know the guy you first see at the service desk is the head mechanical rocket scientist.

Now that I think about it, the stall issue computer flash should be free because I think it was determined to be a recall issue. Go to a dealer with your VIN # and ask for a printout of all recalls. They may tow for free. WCM module job should cost around 200 after parts and labour. It's not even an hour of shop time. The part goes in right behind the plastic cover where your key goes.
