If the ECU controls the flashers and turn signals...I wonder what those resistors are saying to the ECU???? Probably something it doesn't like. You may find out one of these days.

Nah, as long as the resistors are close to the same resistance as the original light bulb, the ECU can't tell the difference.

Too bad the ECU causes the fast-flash. I guess there's a law that states that flashers need to indicate a bulb failure (hence the fast-flash), but with LEDs there is SOME current flow, not NONE (none indicates a failure). The ECU must use a current threshold rather than a "yes/no" current check, which is really too bad.

According to this nifty calculator http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/page2.asp -- 6 ohms at 12 volts = 2 amps. The Sylvania 3157 bulbs are rated at 2.1 amps, so that sounds about right. Too bad I gotta waste energy heating sheet metal just because of a lame ECU.

Found a web sight that says you can ditch those resistors if you get the right flasher unit.

Gah, read the whole thread . The issue here is that the JK doesn' have a dedicated flasher unit, it's built into the ECU, thus it's not as simple as replacing the flasher.

I was just looking at some 3157 LEDs the other day thinking how I could convert..... How quick is the flash without the resistors whpony?? Double time??

It's a Jeep. I guess it's allergic to efficiency.

Yep it about double the rate... But like I said you won't even notice it after a bit.
