Default My compass is stuck

For about the past 2 weeks, my in-dash compass has been stuck. No matter where i go or what direction I turn, I'm either driving N or NW. I'm expect to end up in Seattle any day now.

Does anyone know how to reset the dadgum thing? Or am I stuck with a warranty work ticket at the dealership?

The same thing happended to me last month...

Manual Compass Calibration

NOTE: Before attempting a manual compass calibration,
the engine must be running and the transmission
in the P (Park) position (if equipped).

Compass calibration can also be requested. To manually
calibrate the compass, you must first enter the variance
mode. Press the and hold the left button (located on the
instrument cluster) for approximately 10 seconds to enter
the variance mode, and release the button when the VAR
symbol appears. The current variance value will also be
displayed. Once in the variance mode, it is necessary to
release the button, and then press and hold it again
(approximately 10 seconds) until CAL is displayed (solid
not blinking). Manual compass calibration has been
initiated.

Drive the vehicle slowly in one or more circles
under 5 mph (8 km/h) in an area free from large metal
objects until the CAL symbol is extinguished.
When the CAL symbol no longer is displayed, the
compass is calibrated and should display correct headings.
Verify proper calibration by checking North (N),
South (S), East (E), andWest (W). If the compass does not
appear accurate, repeat the calibration procedure in another
area.

Go find a parking lot you can drive in a circle and recalibrate the compass. Check your manual but I think this is right. With the Jeep on press and hold the left button for about 10 seconds to set local deviation ( it probably has not changed) then hold the button down again until CAL is displayed. Now drive in a small circle two times around or until compass displays a heading. Done!

I did it on mine a couple of months back. Works like a charm and no problem ever since. I did discover that mine still had the factory variance, so I reset that too and it is dead on now.

Thanks ya'll ... that did the trick. Felt a little silly spinning slow donuts in a church parking lot this morning, but it got me back on track.

Thanks!
