Default OEM ball joint grease fitting

While waiting for the release of serviceable greaseable ball joints
I deided to take matters in my own hands, w/ the help of one of our club mechanics.
After finding the source of an annoying squeak in the front end, dry upper ball joint,
we drilled and tapped the upper ball joints for a grease fitting and then filled em up
with grease. No more squeak and they are greaseable.
How long this will hold up only time will tell.

What did you do about the metal shavings that fell into the hole while drilling and tapping?

Actually the top cap on the upper ball joint is plastic.

Were you able to grease it until grease came out of the bottom of the joint?

The lower ball joint is the one that really needs to be grease-able.

Default BURST Ball Joint

Just had all BJ's replaced.
However, front left side lower burst after a short drive.
Load of oil has come out and its still driping and spreading all over the inside of the wheel arch.
Are the BJ's now a different spec, as from previous posts I've read they are supposed to have only a 'butter covering' of grease.
Well I've got Grease and oil issuing from mine.
Been back to dealers and he's ordering another.
Has this happened to anyone else ?
Could the joint have been damaged when being fitted ?

That sounds more like a leaking front axle seal.
