Default Painted trim

Hi all, joined awhile ago but this is my first post.

So the other day I was at the local dealer and saw a new Jeep Renegade, I like the color match trim inside. I then inquired at the parts department if they offered something like that for my 2012 JK and low and behold they do. Now the bad news is the kit that includes the 4 vent bezels, 1 grab handle and 2 door inserts cost $189.99.

So here is my $7.99 fix.

I stopped by the auto parts store and bought a rattle can of dupli-color paint, my JK is deep cherry red and they had a can of dark cherry red (a GM color) that was very close. I took off the three inserts and removed the false allen head bolts, wiped them down with denatured alcohol and sprayed them with 4 to 5 light coats. While those were drying i removed the 4 bezels, wiped them down as well then sprayed them. After about 30 min they were dry enough to reinstall.

My Jeep is the sport/s model so the trim was a matt silver/grey finish.

Here are two pictures, the one with the flash makes it look brighter than it really is.

Looks really good! Nice work and welcome.

I did the same, my Jeep is black so matching was easy, and then used an accent color to bring out the writing on the bezels and grab handle insert.

Very cool looking. I'm surprised there aren't more write ups about this.
