Def not idiot free, it's very hard to do an entire vehicle. nearly impossible with cans. Check out this guy fonzy at dipyourcar.com he sells kits with spray guns and plasti dip in gallons. You need to have control of the spray and keep it steady and even, otherwise you will get darker spots. You should have a pro who has painted cars/jeeps before do it.

Agree not idiot free to get a perfect result, but its nice cuz it isn't permanent. Unlike Bedliner or paint, a screw up isn't as costly, permanent or time consuming to fix with plastidip

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will start with the grill and work my way from there so I can get a feel for it.

Cheers!

Well, got 3 coats on the grill. Looks amazing! Going to piece together a plan on doing the rest. I did have a question come up and wondered if you guys knew the answer.....

Has anyone attached Decals to the Plasti Dip? I took my JEEP decal off the grill and wanted to paint it to match my accents and attach it again. Anyone try this? Thanks guys......Love this forum and the helpful info....

Alright all you plasti dip fanatics I was just about to pull the trigger on powder coating my wheels, and figured I'd give this thread a read. And all it did was create more questions than it answered. On dip your car .com
I read this stuff only lasts about three years. Has anyone had it last longer?
It says you can just peel it off. Won't trail damage just peel it off?
Should I plasti dip or powder coat?

Plasti dip and save up for aftermarket wheels!
Imho powder coating is kina pointless. You can put a couple of coats of good spray paint on your rims and it will be just as nice and about a quater of the price

I wheel my jeep about every other weekend. I dipped my wheels a couple months back and no issues. plus, if anything comes off just touch up. its still cheaper !

Don't spend hundreds and powder coat wheels. Also plastidip will peel right off from a rock scrape. I used duplicolor low gloss engine enamel ($6 a can) and it still looks great a year later. Only wear spots you see are where rock rash removed metal from the wheel, powder cost would do the same thing. Only difference is I can touch up my wheels for $6 rather than having to redo the whole wheel.

Plasti dip does have it great uses, but I wouldn't use it on wheels, although a lot of people have good results. I may try it on my whole jeep next spring for shits and giggles. I have my front cowl plastidipped and it looks great, still on there
