Default Power windows

Hello everyone... As Some of you already know i'm currently working on putting aftermarket power windows in my 4dr JK. I was successful in adding aftermarket power locks about 5 months ago and now decided to add the windows. While i don't have a write up for you quite yet, i will have one eventually. I've been working on the windows periodically over the past few days and got all the switches, relays power sources etc, installed without any major problems. However, i began installing the motors today and discoved that the cable driven kits wont work (James76 you were right) the cable kits jam easy and dont work in the JK. I started on the back doors and think that maybe if you are very patient, and rather ingenious you might be able to get the cable kits to work on a two door as there is a lot more room to work with on the front doors than the rear. Anyway, i want everyone to know that i'm not giving up, but i'm going to need to research some other product in order to make this work. Sooner or later i'll come up with something, as i already installed all the switches, and all the wiring, certainly it would be silly to have all that and crank windows. So i'll come up with something eventually. Keep posted, i'll prolly order parts tonight, and hopefully have power windows installed in a week or two.

Thanks,
Mike/Yellowjeeper85

as i said on the other post, i would look into getting the factory regulators, even tho they might be a tad pricier than aftermarket, they are guarenteed to work on this application. Plus they will likely last alot longer too.

Well everyone, despite me efforts, the aftermarket kits simply wont work on a JK, i've gone through every possible option i can think of and nothing works. i even went so far as to completely dissasemble the after market motor, redesign it to the point that it would just slip over the stock crank and it worked... until the window got all the way up or down, then the plastic gear spun around the crank rod and chewwed all the teeth off and fell out. plus it was very loud. So, as much as i hate to do it, tomorrow i think i'll order the factory motors and regulators from jeep... i'm sure that'll cost me a fortune. if anyone else figures out some other way, let me know please.

Ah crap! I guess I'll have to resell mine...whenever I get 'em!!

Did you ever try them on the front doors, or just the back? I'm still gonna' try it on the fronts, just cuz I'll already have all the doors apart for the powerlocks install. My windows crank hard enough by hand, that I have to admit, it's gonna' take a hell of a motor.

I love to tinker, so at least it'll keep me busy for a while.

yeah, they told me 50 a peice for the regulator... and a 100 a piece for the motor. I just don't want to spend 600 bucks on this. so i'm back to brainstorming and i think i found something that'll work. but its gonna be a little while before it comes in and gets installed.

this may be a stupid question... but why did you buy it w/out power windows only to add them?

how much is that option really?

keeping in mind it would include a 3 year warrenty on all 4 doors...
