I have gussets and a truss but never got around to installing it yet. With 37s I was fine, I think you'll be fine with the 35s. Now that the 40s are on the truss is definitley going on.

Update*** Well! I said I'd never do it but here I am, I moved up to 40s. Now quick side note, by no means are 40s necessary. Anything I'd be doing you could get away with 37s, even 35s if you don't mind using those skids. But yes, I reached my peak of tire size, I will not go any farther, now it's just a matter of building the jeep to handle them like it did the 37s. Btw, I bought 5 toyo 40x13.5x17 mt They are the BEST tire I've had to date. I have not balanced them, and I run no steering stabilizer, yet I run down the highway around 75-80 mph and not one single vibration can be felt from these. Click image for larger version

Pushed Ruby at rausch creek and got her up shoot the moon. Awesome trail, but most definitely a treacherous one, heres some a couple pics from the trip.
This is taken on the back half of shoot the moon, after going through the entrance in the quarry.

BTW, we beat the snot out Ruby this last time out, smoking the tires on the rocks, rock bouncing, almost flipped her, but hey she made it home and she's better than ever, took it like a champ.

Also, bunch of things different on Ruby since my last post here, front Artec truss was installed along with control arm skids, hd trackbar bracket, and c gussets. The draglink was also flipped to the top of the knuckle to match the angle of the track bar after it was raised axle side.

Bet that made quite a noticeable difference in steering.
