I like it...looks like there is enough room for a 110 inverter in there?

I love it when people resurrect older threads, otherwise I wouldn't have come across this (since I'm new). Great mod!

Funny, I did that 12v plug this weekend too. I just put mine up at the front top corner for easier access when I have stuff back there.

Did you wire yours up in the same way?

I am wondering if there is an easier way than all straight up to the battery, if there is a hot wire near the back to tap into.

Electrical newb here. Can the outlet be hooked up with an inline fuse then straight to the battery?

Any time you run a wire from the battery, there should be a fuse close to the battery to protect the wire run, rated a little less than the wire can safely carry for its length.

For instance, I want to have a plug (large two prong plug) in the back to run an inverter, compressor, or whatever. So, I have run a 4ga. wire to the back, protected by a 70 amp fuse at the battery end.
If I decide to connect a 12 volt socket to the 4ga. wire in the rear, I would figure the amperage I want it to handle, and connect the appropriate gage wire, with an appropriate fuse at the connection, to protect the wire that goes to the socket.
