Default Rear view screen placement

Got a back up camera for Christmas and haven't been able to get around installing it yet. Looking for ideas and places to mount the monitor in the interior?

Give us some details on the monitor. Size? Type? Most folks have either a monitor that replaces their rear view mirror, or a monitor built into their stereo. I'm curious to see what you come up with.

With that size could it fit above the rear view mirror?

RAM Mirror Base (Hardware Included) for Chrysler, Ford & Toyota Vehicles

RAM Universal X-Grip® Cell/iPhone Holder with 1" Ball

The links are to a replacement arm for your mirror mount and a phone holder/clamp (whatever you wish to name it, get one that will fit the size screen you have). You could remove your mirror and put this on along with a double socket arm (also ram mount product) of whatever length you'd like.

You could also do as Mike above suggested and mount it above the mirror. Using this setup as well, just purchase the rear view mirror button socket with glue from your local auto parts shop and glue a second one on above what you have now. Or anywhere you'd like it on the windshield (keep in mind local laws for obstructed view).

If you want a project you could use this as an opportunity to do some fiberglass work and the possibilities of where you put it could be endless. Personal preference really.

Side note I use the ram mounts and have had great luck with them. Once tightened into place they hold well. What I use them with: Vector Offroad

I have my tablet hung over in front of my radio (until I glass it in and rid myself of the stock head unit), phones secured to the dash, camera (GoPro), etc.

I "installed" a small 3.5 inch tv above the driver side sun visor.

Fits perfectly in the spot. I didnt want it permanently mounted there so I taped some large neodymium magnets inside the battery compartment so the TV would stick to the hardtop latches. I later made a thin bendable metal bracket for it to better hold it at the angle I preferred. I put a piece of fabric over it to somewhat hide it.

Here is a pic of it.....

I don't watch it while driving.

The screen looks like that because I put headlight tinting on it so it isnt so bright.

I've thought about making a kind of false switch box on a hinge to put it over the tv so that it completely hides it. Something kind of like this..

The false switch box looks like a really clever way to hide the tv. Does the tv get in the way when the t-tops are off?
