Stock bumper mod
This isn't really a new idea but I was reading on the forum last naight and got the bug to do something. At 9 pm I entered the garage. I started by taking my bumper as per another thread on this forum. I'd like to note that my initial plan was to just take the plastic off but there was NO WAY it was going to happen with the stock tow hooks on there so I removed the whole thing which benefitted me in the long run.

I took the stock tow hooks and went ahead and painted red asap because the humidity is about 9000%

Next I cut off the crush cans and grinded down the welds with my grinder.

I had some scrap sheet metal laying around so I outlined the huge holes that the stock fog lights mounted in along with the bolt holes and some surrounding holes.

I cut the sheet metal with grinder, dremel tool, and tin snips. Then drilled out the bolt holes. I rubbed down bumper and sheet metal with steel wool then primed with self etching primer.
Drank beer.
(It's now 11pm)
Once dry I painted with rustoleum spray paint that came in a hammered finish to help hide inperfections)
Drank another beer.

Drank about 4 more beers waiting for paint to dry.

now at about 1:30 in the morning and after a good buzz the paint was still tacky so as I stared at the bumper I thought of what else I could be doing while the paint dried. I went ahead and wired my KC lights to the existing fog light wiring. (That took about five minutes, paint still tacky) Drank another beer.
I thought of what I could do with the stock fog lights and remembered a previous thread of someone using led's in their wheel wells for rock lights. *Idea!* I then mounted fog lights in wheel wells having full knowledge that they will probably break but didn't care because 1. I didnt' need them anyway, 2. once broke, I'd have all the wiring done for led's, and 3. My 8 beers told me it was a good idea.
Once rock lights were mounted I decided to call it a night and would run the wiring and mount bumper the next morning.
Went to bed at 3 and had sex with wife.
Woke up at 8 to get a head start on the heat.
Mounted sheet metal to bumper and put bumper back on then mounted KC lights to bumper.

Spent the next 2 hours running wires for the rock lights to a switch in my dash panel.

Here's finished product.

I haven't seen it all lit up at night so I don't know how well the rock lights will work. Next I plan on cutting the bumper down eventually to a stubby. Trying to find a way to maybe mount my ax and shovel to bumper but not sure if I like the look. And fenders will be next. Hope you all enjoyed and let me know what you think.

i am bending a 1 inch tube for the front....just need to see if i can turn the oem tow hooks to point down so i can install the bar at an angle...it will be a small bar not as big as a stinger...put some caridge bolts in the outer holes close to the end of your bumper ,this way it looks custom...

I actually had the jk out at night so I could adjust all my lights. The pictures of the rocklights don't do it's justice. at night they light up EVERYTHING around the wheel. and it provides an awesome underneath glow to the rig. I'll snap some better pics this evening

I've had night's that I couldn't sleep and my wife helped but working on the JK is something that i've yet to try.
