Transmission Drain plug link
Does anyone know if there's a link to a write up on putting a drain plug in the AT pan? I plan on changing my ATF next week, and I'd like to add this to it.
A friend had a pan that he had a drain plug welded in and painted. He put it on my 08. I sent him your question, hopefully you'll hear back from him ..ronjenx. Btw, be sure you have a new filter and understand the exact way to apply the silicone sealant. A new pan is fairly cheap. Buy one to get the work done before you start the job. You'll also need ball headed allens and ratcheting wrenches. I do believe he did a tranny fluid/filter write-up.

Fill out your profile so people can see what year your JK is, and what it has for equipment.
The following applies to the 42RLE transmission, '07 to '11 JK.
Weld a bung in the pan. I cut it down a little to reduce its height from that shown in this picture.

Make a tab with a small hole in it, and weld it next to the drain plug. Safety wire the plug to the tab.

This wrench and cap screw combination will make the three screws over the exhaust cross-over much easier to install. The ball-ended Allen wrenches make it so a straight shot at the screws is not necessary.
