Default Trimming Rubicon sliders

I was sick of the OE Rubicon slider/rock rails rubbing my left rear tire when I had a full load of lard butts and went over some whoops in the road,
not to mention at even partial flex, so I got out the grinder!
Heres what the problem looked like in stock trim:

And here from above:

On the right side too:
(from when I put this tires and lift on this Spring)

Of couse the pinch weld is also in the way:

So I removed the rails and after removing the end caps:

I marked out a line approx an inch back all the way around, got out the die grinder and had at it:

It took about 15 min per side of spraying sparks and pissing off the neighbors but ended up with these when done:

Next had to trim and touch up the pinch welds:

After spraying with some Rustoleum textured spray paint, reinstalled and had
at least an inch better clearance:

Thanks for reading

I did the same thing, but did it much quicker (Note: I don't really care about cosmetics):

Sawzall right to the sliders and pinch welds. I cut a lot more off so that it was flush with the fender flare. I lopped off both sides in less than 5 min. I then Sealed the hole in the pinch weld with some black silicone sealant. I left the slider hole open and then sprayed everything with black rustoleum.

Start to finish was less than 30 min.

I thought about trying it on the vehicle, but wanted it to look as it should of from the factory.
Took my time and made sure it was as straight as a non-modified one.

If you really flex out you need to trim more! Cut the pinch seam to so you don't shread your tire!

Good know. That looks easy enough. Now I just have to find a set of sliders.
