So I dunno, maybe I'll bed line the lower part of the Jeep to "fix" it. I'll figure it out later, I'm jus happy that I now get to move on to bending tube [/QUOTE]

I had a local machine shop bend me up some 6"x 3/16" bar stock to match the bend in the lower rocker panel then I welded on some more bar stock to tie into the body mounts. Cheap and very stout. Cost $40 a side including the steel.

Not sure on how you plan to attach the skin but I think you will want those mount brackets to go to within about 3/16" of the factory end in the opening so you have a clean edge to weld the skin to.

Dirt man, I'd live to see pictures of your rails, as long as the op is ok with it of course. Don't want to thread-jack.

I also found this yesterday, confirmation that the stock Rubi rails are junk. I saw that they were bent, but I didn't realize how much they impacted the body until I actually removed them. This is just an example, but on both sides of the jeep, the rockers, quarter ends and fenders are damaged to the point of cracking the paint. You can see it if you look past my ugly weld

Yea you cant have a slider attached to the pinch seem prime example as to why......

attach a skin to it, it will cover that all up and give it strength.

Do you have any pics of this? I get the idea I think. I assume you also bolted it to the pinch seam? Did you rivnut the upper portion?
