Warranty on soft top
I just went to two separate dealers and pretty much got screwed.
My soft top is two years old
An the small bar that runs along the nylon straps that connect to the middle bar. Broke right off. How I don't know.
Dealers pretty much told me that I must have broken it off. Meanwhile I have never struggled to put the top down or forced it
Down in any way.
The top is almost impossible to fold Down now. Any advice? Tips? Something I can say to them? Take it further?
Thanks.

After i bought my brand new Jeep i noticed the rear window was torn the day after i brought it home. I had to make a big stink to get them to replace it..
Besides trying another dealer, you can try calling Chrysler customer service but not sure if theyd help or not
Im not even sure if the soft top is covered under warranty

I went through the same problem... well.. it was my back window... but the same amount of poop.
I bitched to the head of the customer service and compliance department.. and this is what I was told.
Essentially when chrysler got their bail-out, they changed their warranty policies... now instead of the dealership being able to use their discretion to replace a part, they now have a 'warranty claims' department... just like insurance. The hopes are to cut down on expenses... so by making it third party, it is less likely that you will have a part replaced that 'you' broke, just because you get along really well with the dealership, or if you have a buddy who is a chrysler tech... thus saving the company money on uneccessary repairs.
So.. you go to a dealer, the dealer takes some pix, sends them to the warranty claim dept (usually while not telling you any of this... so you sit in the waiting room assuming their fixing their junk.. but really they are just wasting your time), if the claim comes back no, they'll flag your vin in the system. So it doesn't matter WHAT dealership you go to after that... they will all tell you the same thing, because they aren't able to put in another request for replacement if you've already been turned down.
So... essentially you're dicked...

I just had my top replaced last week and the Dealership gave me no problems. If your jeep is still in the warranty window, then it should be covered. Now the service guy had to get approval from Chrysler before they could replace mine. The approval only took about 15 minutes.

I had the best luck when I dealt directly with the service manager (mind you it didn't get me a new window... but he was definitely the most accommodating, sold me a replacement window at 25% off cost)... now, in order to get the service manager to slot time in his busy schedule for me I went to the sales dude I bought the Jeep from and explained my disappointment. I also explained that it had potentially soured my thoughts on the jeep brand, and my wife needs a new whip and we were thinking about a JKU, but not if this is how Chrysler treats customers.
It's one of those things.... some people will bitch and make a scene and get what they want... I'm not one of those people.. I try to get as far as I can with being cordial and professional.... but sometimes being an a$$ gets you farther... who knows
