here are the actual measurements taken at the frame, the first one is with the stock bumper and the second is with the winch installed, ONLY a 3/16th drop( the second measurement was taken AFTER I drove it and parked it in EXACTLY the same spot)
I also put in a internal momentary switch and I used a key type lock power control (I have a very smart and adventurious 5 year old boy).Click image for larger version

I forgot to show the bumper w/o the winch. Iknow that alot have cut the plastic so that the winch fits down into it but I only cut the center 13" and I put the winch over the plastic and "squished"it down. I think it's a very cleac look.Click image for larger version

this is great, thanks! I have the winch and plate sitting in my living room waiting to be mounted right now!

What did you use to cut the plate? looks good!

Wow that looks good! Is it OK to bolt the plate all the way through the frame rail like that? Especially in the area that is designed to crush? Seems a lot easier than fishing the nuts inside.

I used a reciprecating saw (sawzall) with an 18tooth metal blade and it cut quite easely. The only problem with running the bolts all the way through is that a standard 1/4" drill bit isn't long enough so you can do one of 3 things: get a longer bit (best option) measure and drill top down then bottom up, or drill top down with the 1/4 then 1/2 then use a bit extender on the 1/4 to reach down from the top.
There are many little tips that I have so if anyone needs a bit of advice please ask.

A little something else that I would like to mention is if you look at the 3rd picture down on the 2nd post you will see the relationship of the plate to the stock mounting hole, I did this so that the grill could still be removed.

That's what I assumed, thanks! Looks like I'll have to make a Home Depot rental... and just to be clear, it might be a dumb question, but do you use the bolts that came with the XRC8 to mount it to the plate or use some additional grade 8 bolts? I imagine the ones that came with the winch is what you use but they just seemed insufficient when I looked at them.. this is my first winch.... thanks again..
