Lightbulb yet another roll bar handle grip (with a twist)

The inlaws are coming in to town, and I was looking for grab handles to add to my 4dr so they could get into the Jeep a little easier.

What I did was take open ended mountain bike grips($7 a pair), and use a length of sprinkler riser nipple (~$3.00 at lowes) to make the grip rigid.
that way it doesn't pinch your hand when you pull on it.

Ive used grips like this on kayaks , and they have held up for years.
you just want to stick with the harder rubber compounds - the really cushy stuff gets nasty in the sun.

I havent seen anything like this in my searches. dont think it has been covered. It is still in the mock up stages, i need to get the straps finished up.

What clamp are you using and whered you get it? They look like snowboard bindings and are probably more secure than velcro.

Default straps

those are the wheel straps from a Yakima bike rack.
They cinch down really tight.
