Tested some things today in the same area. I am definitely kicking something up in the engine compartment. If I go over 15 MPH my electrical system takes a beating. I'm almost thinking snow's getting into my mean green alternator. I have a red top that is not even two years old. The only other thing I can think of is snow is making my belt slip without melting and squealing.

I drove down a road that wasn't 12" of powder but a good 3" at 40 MPH and everything was fine. I'm at a loss, guess I'll just go slow and easy in anything over a foot, kinda like water.

On a funny note, I got a reverse wave from a FJ today. Two fingers down.

Out of morbid curiousity, how many of you aren't running treatment factory air dam?

I replaced it with a RR skid plate. Maybe that would help keep junk out of my engine compartment?

When was the last time you bought a battery? Cold weather kills them and it may be as simple as that. I'm sure you thought of this but must state the obvious.

Just noticed you are in AK so it's probably cold all the time, again this is probably just a battery gone bad

I got a optima red top about 18 months ago. I have a garage at home. I have considered te battery but as long as I'm not driving through the powder everything is fine. I'll probably replace it this time next year.

I really wish Rugged Ridge would get their snorkel out so I can work out a dual battery setup.

I know its a long shot but the guys at napa told me to hold onto the receipt cause the optimas have a 2 year warranty so maybe you still have your receipt.

Sadly yeah, I bought it at an Autozone in Illinois. If it was GTE battery it should happen more often I would think.
