Anybody up for a day trip or two at the end of the month? I've got the 30th and 1st off, so I want to get off of the pavement for a couple of days.

Anyone? Bueller?

So I'm thinking Brushy Creek on Saturday the 30th and either Bridgeport or Barnwell Mountain on Sunday the 1st..

C'mon, guys. The DFW area has just as many Jeeps as these other cities, but it seems that nobody likes to get together or get them dirty. I'm throwing down the gauntlet here. I don't even have a lift kit or a Rubicon, but I ain't skeered. How about you?

I might be able to make it up to Gilmer the 1st.

We have family in for the 30th, but I don't know how long they'll hang around.

So I'm thinking a day trip on both days. Brushy Creek, which is only about an hour from Dallas, on Saturday, and Gilmer on Sunday. Is it a little bit of driving? Yes. But hey, it's also my birthday weekend and I'll be willing to buy beers and shots after each trip.

Disclaimer: Not all of the beers and shots...

On another note, my GM has talked to me about putting together a BBQ cookoff at our bar for a Sunday afternoon in May. I mentioned there were quite a few of us locals who were beginning to get together on the weekends. She suggested I invite the JK Forum guys to the bar for the cook off. Our bar is located off Hwy. 67 on the Dallas County/Ellis County line, just north of Midlothian and just south of Cedar Hill, at the Shiloh Road exit. The bar's name is The Oasis and you can find us on Facebook under "The Oasis Midlothian".

We're planning on doing it toward the middle of May. We'll obviously have the BBQ, plus our bar has a huge backyard, where we have an outdoor bar, picnic tables, a horseshoe pit, and other stuff. We also have a dart tournament on Sundays and everyone would be invited to enter that, as well. It's a ten dollar entry fee and the bar matches the pot.

Also that day, we plan on having Kyle Venable, of the Dallahachie Boys, and some of his friends play two or three acoustic sets in the backyard.

The bar would offer us prime parking to display our rigs and we'll also have beer specials that day, along with some really good food.

So what do y'all think?
