Default Herculiner project

Hey y'all! Just joined the site and I'm thoroughly impressed. Plenty of good gouge on Jeep stuff. Motivated by some of the write-ups, I decided to not have Line-x spray my tub. Instead, I am in the process of doing a Herculiner install by myself.

Here are some of the photos:

Lessons learned:

Seat bolts require heat and leverage...lots of leverage!
Shift knob has a screw under the sleeve
4WD shifter does not! Also, DO NOT TWIST! It doesn't help...much.
Heat protective stuff on the deck comes up nicely with heat gun and a chisel (carefully)

Still can't figure out the Center Console removal. Probably just work around it.
What's the deal with the holes behind the B-Post?? What do I do with them??

I think that's all I can come up with for the evening. I'll update as I go.

Oh yeah...First time topless!

I wouldn't waste your time with that liner. Short story, it SUCKS! It will fade and chip up pretty fast. Return it and get a better liner, monster , raptor...

Thanks for the opinion. I don't have an air compressor/spray gun setup. This will have to work. Any suggestions about the B-Post holes?

So here's my solution to the B- Piller hole question:

I found a "boca plate" in the electrical aisle at Lowes. Cut it down to fit and attached with self-tapping screws. I figure once the liner is applied, it should look pretty good. I didn't seal it on with an adhesive in the off chance I might need to get access to it. Cutting away Herculiner and undoing some screws should be a lot easier than fighting with the adhesive as well... Just a thought.

Looks good, I pulled the carpet out of mine 2 weeks ago and have been trying to decide between spraying the inside with a liner or buying some sort of bed rug.

Thanks! I had the option to have Line-X spray my tub for $665. I would have had to pull the interior for that price. After pulling everything to prep for it, I realized that I wanted to finish the job myself. I used Herculiner despite a few reviews that said it wasn't the best product. It was an easy install and looks like a good thick coating. I'm waiting for it to dry before re-installing the interior. We'll see...

Looks good! This was the first mod I did. I used Al's Liner. It was a hell of an experience. I started out using the spray gun (part of the kit). While trying to spray under the rail, liner poured out from the top of the sprayer and all in the tub. While frantically looking throughout my garage for a paint roller to roll it out, I tripped over one of the chemical bottles (part of the mix) and it spilled all over the floor. Luckily I bought an extra kit. Ended up rolling the rest of it on. All in all turned out well. Just a pain in the ass if you're clumsy like me

That's probably a lot funnier now that its over! I successfully got it on my hands, elbows, foot and knees. The sad part I was wearing gloves and jeans! I tried to mix the can with my drill mixer and splashed it all over myself a d my driveway. What a mess! Xylene got most of it off the driveway, but my boots and jeans were pretty much toast.
Long story short, it turned out very nice and I only spent about $150 on it.
