Default San Antonio here I come

Like the title says my family and I are relocating to San Antonio. My wife took a job as a Nurse there, and I am currently searching for a LEO job in the surrounding area. Just curious about some of the better areas to live when we get down there in the 3rd week of May. We will initially be renting an apartment. Also any good wheeling spots, and Police departments y'all know of that are hiring in that area. As well as good schools that preferably have ROTC. Thanks in advance.

I would think the San Antonia PD would be a higher paying great PD to work for. Is she working in San Antonio or one of the cities outside of it? New Braunfels is a really nice place around there.

She is working at the Methodist Children's hospital in San Antonio. I am putting an app in for SAPD, but i am also interested in some of the suburbs.

Default SA

SA is a great place to live. Been here for six years. The best areas are North and West outside of loop 1604. There are many other good areas also but thats a good guide and the newest growing areas. There are several jeep clubs in town and a few off road parks within day tripping. You can also go down to padre for sand wheeling and beach camping.

Sounds good. We have went down several times for vacations, and loved it. We decided that's where we wanted to live, and recently the timing was right so we will be down there at the end of next month. Luckily the wife already has a job down there. Im hoping to get onto a PD down there as thats what i do there, however most of them want you certified first.

If your already a cop then you should be POST certified. What other certification are they wanting?

Because I am certified through Kansas, and not Texas I have to get my Texas peace officer certification. Which from what I understand by reading on their webpage will be a lengthy process of getting my records from Ks transferred to Tx. Also going through a background check and fingerprints again. There are several things I am having to get notarized from my previous employers HR. It is just a long process.
