If you wanna do rocks we'll have to go to Disney. The only thing close to Enid is the dunes, and those are fun too.

Hello, John here in Enid. So how did I come to own a '97 TJ then a '12 Rubicon? I guess it started with a new Dodge Challenger SRT8 and a golden retriever. Short point they don't mix well. Needed something in the family to haul the dog.

I spend a LOT of time at a place called AllPar a Chrysler LLC enthusiast site. A lot of threads derail over the direction of where Jeep is going. At first I resented it. Over time I learned how special the Wrangler is, how Jeep lives off what the Wrangler represents. I'm a military guy with a lot of hours behind the wheel of the HMMWV. I respect the Wrangler.

The plan was leasing a new Jeep Patriot for dog and family hauling. Then a friend was upgrading to a 2010 Wrangler Unlimited, very sharp in black. The price on his '97 Sahara was too good to pass up. A chance to own a "real Jeep". Late summer two weeks with the roof/doors off I was hooked. I had been reading about what was coming for the 2012 Rubicon so the Challenger SRT8 went in for a trade.

My goal is to learn about proper upkeep by doing more wrenching on my own for the TJ, now my wife's Jeep. To learn the standard noob stuff. To hook up with fellow Wrangler enthusiasts in my area.

John

Welcome to the site. I got rid of my Jeep about a year ago but currently work at the local Jeep dealer. I'm taking a few days off right now. We (wife and I) thought about getting a '12 but when she drove the Trail Teams FJ Cruiser her mind was made up, she never even drove the Wrangler. I took over driving our truck as a primary vehicle but might still end up getting another Wrangler when the price is right. Hopefully the 3.6 will be durable, I've heard techs (from other dealers) say they have had lots of problems. In-vehicle service looks to be a real pain. :(
